Veterans Day Program

Jeff Davis County Veterans Association will once again hold its Veterans Day program Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Veterans Square Park. Plans are to not only honor all veterans but also a special part of this year’s program will focus on women who have served in the military.
The Veterans Association is asking that all women who have served in any branch of service send their contact information so they may be included in the program. In addition to the branch of service, the Veterans Association also needs the dates of service and rank obtained, plus if she served in peacetime or wartime. The Veterans Association would also need to know if the veteran plans to attend the ceremony.
Information may be submitted via email at jeffdaviscountyva@gmail.com. Alternately, for more details the veteran or a family member of an infirm or deceased veteran may call Diana Daugherty at 912-253-9277 or Carroll Walker at 912-347-1910. The deadline to submit the information is Nov. 1.
If any veteran or family member of a deceased veteran, male or female, would like to have his or her name inscribed on the monument at Veterans Square Park, applications are available via download from the Veterans Association website at www.jdcva.com or in-person pickup from the Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis County Chamber of Commerce. The deadline for applications for name engraving is also Nov. 1.
