Hospital Ground Breaking Ceremony
Jeff Davis Hospital, a not-for-profit critical access hospital in Hazlehurst, has been awarded a USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Loan to provide appropriate funding for a 10 bed inpatient adult psychiatric facility.
The project involves approximately 8,500 square feet of new construction that connects to the existing hospital which aids in the patients integrated care continuum. The program will add over 15 new jobs locally. This facility will provide much needed behavioral health services to the region, services for which patients currently must obtain a significant distance away.
The facility will address many of the mental disorders which affect the adult population including, depression, anxiety disorders, suicidal tendencies, drug and alcohol dependency, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
A ground-breaking ceremony will be held Feb. 16 at 11:30 at 163 S. Tallahassee Street in Hazlehurst. The anticipated opening date will be Oct. 1, 2018.
