Dorothy Taylor will share her book, The Hackmore Farms, The Hurry-Cane at the Jeff Davis Library April 18. A business meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the author at 7.
A native of Brunswick, Mrs. Taylor was a military child, growing up all over the United States. She has been a resident of Appling County since 2016.
The vernacular used in several of her writings, including the Hackmore Farms series, is based on the speech of her great aunts and uncles. Her grandfather and great-grandfather were both sharecroppers. Her parents taught her the “old ways.”
She started The Hackmore Farms series by accident. It was supposed to be a short story but when it was posted on a Facebook page, readers wanted more. That first short story turned into Hackmore Farms, The Hurry-cane. She is working on her next book, Hackmore Farms, New Beginnings and book three will be Hackmore Farms, The Crash.
Friends of the Library welcome the public.
