Dementia Friends
The Heart of Georgia Altamaha Area Agency on Aging is hosting a “Dementia Friends” information session Oct. 30 and is looking for local people to join in learning about dementia and helping people who are living with it in our community.
Dementia Friends is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way we think, talk and act about the disease. The Dementia Friends session helps you learn about dementia and the small ways you can help.
The one hour session will be at Toombs County Community Center, 107 Old Airport Road, Vidalia from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
Having volunteered to be a Dementia Friends Champion, Lisa Livingston and Lisa Wolfson are now delivering Dementia Friends Sessions to people across the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Area Agency on Aging’s 17 county region. They became involved in the Dementia Friends project as a way to increase community awareness of the needs to persons living with dementia.
Anyone interested in attending the Dementia Friends Session should RSVP by contact Lisa Livingston or Lisa Wolfson at 912-367-3648 or 888-367-9913 by Oct. 25.
