Coach Callaway at JD Library

Coach Anson Callaway

Ledger editor Tommy Purser with Coach Anson Callaway
Coach Anson Callaway of Lyons will be the featured speaker at the Oct. 17 meeting of the Friends of the Library.
Coach Callway has written a book, “A Rich Poor Man,” about his many years of serving with the Lyons Recreation Department and what it took to have the Anson Callway Complex at Partin Park in Lyons completed. If you have ever been over to Partin Park you know what a great facility that has served their community and numerous baseball players and families from all over the area.
Coach Callaway’s motto is a great one, “Dream Big, Work Hard, and Good Things Will Happen.” That applies to everything, whether in sports or everyday life.
Coach Callaway said, “When I was twelve years old, I told my daddy what I wanted to do in life; it was to play ball. For sixty years, I did that. Thanks to all the people who were a big part of this journey. Thanks for believing in me. It was a lot of fun!”
