Ash Wednesday Service

Ash Wednesday service is planned Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. at Hazlehurst First United Methodist Church, says the Rev. Allen Hartsfield, pastor.
This will mark the beginning of the church season of Lent which is the 40 days culminating Easter Sunday.
Each person will receive an ashen cross on their forehead reminding them they are from dust and to dust they will return.
Of all the days of the liturgical calendar, Ash Wednesday is one of the most popular and churches are usually full of people who come forward to receive ashes.
Everyone of all ages and faiths is invited.
