    They will have games, face painting, cake walk, and family fun.

    Pastor Andy Brownley and the congregation of Dodge’s Chapel invite everyone to Homecoming Oct. 23. The service begins at 11 a.m. and will include special music.
    A covered dish lunch and time of fellowship will follow.

  • Veterans Association meeting

    The next meeting of the Jeff Davis County Veterans Association is Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Hazlehurst Municipal Building on Johnson Street. Among the topics are final plans for Veterans Day and Christmas activities. All veterans are encouraged to attend and join the group.
    Also note the deadline is Oct. 31 to have a veteran’s name inscribed on the memorial at Veterans Square Park. Any veteran, whether living or deceased, and with a connection to Jeff Davis County, is eligible for name engraving. Veterans or their families may submit the application, which can be picked up in person from the Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis County Chamber of Commerce or Hazlehurst City Hall. Completed forms and fees of $40 per engraving may be mailed to the address on the form or dropped off at the Chamber or City Hall. All new names will be read during the Veterans Day celebration at Veterans Square Nov. 11.
    No dues are required to join the Veterans Association. Light refreshments are served at each meeting. Any questions about the meeting or engraving should be directed to David Miller, president of the Veterans Association, at 912-253-6820.

    Jeff Davis Primary School will host an in-person Reading “Camp-In” Parent Night Oct. 27 at 5:00. Enter through the lunchroom doors.
    JDPS students will go to the gym and participate in “camp-in” reading activities. Parents will visit classrooms to learn more about reading instruction at JDPS and ideas for reading at home.
