Working with Rory Chaney of Hazlehurst Main Street, the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Regional Commission has scheduled a meeting to serve as a public hearing for the Hazlehurst Downtown Development Plan. The plan will be crafted in pursuit of the upcoming Rural Zone Application, which is to be submitted on behalf of the City of Hazlehurst in the coming months.
The Hazlehurst Downtown Development Plan meeting will be June 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Lisa’s Kitchen Restaurant, 12 NW Railroad Street, Hazlehurst.
The public is invited to express desires, ideas on the future vision of Downtown Hazlehurst, to identify issues, challenges, and opportunities facing the downtown area; to determine what actions should be taken to make Downtown Hazlehurst a more vibrant and patron-friendly environment to shop, work, and visit; and to create a master plan to serve as a guide that will assist in the promotion of growth and development in Downtown Hazlehurst.
Please attend, voice your opinions, and be involved. Help your community grow and take pride in the future of Downtown Hazlehurst.

Veterans meeting

The Jeff Davis County Veterans Association will meet June 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the City Municipal Center across from Burger King on Jefferson Street.
All veterans (husbands and wives) are invited. There are no annual membership dues.
