In July, 2019, Glen Solomon, of Jeff Davis County, who was a well-known Southeast Georgia sportsman and author, gave a manuscript he was writing to his friend Bill Prince for consideration for publishing. Glen was a very successful freelance writer with Georgia Outdoor News magazine. Before a decision on the manuscript could be made, Glen sadly passed away Aug. 16, 2019, at just 52 years of age.
Glen’s friends and family decided to push forward with the publishing of Glen’s book, Hunting on the Fly which was released in December with Glen’s widow Cindy of Hazlehurst benefitting from the proceeds. The team that had Glen’s book published paid the expenses as a tribute to their friend and a gift to his widow. Several of the team, including Hazlehurst residents Brice Nelms and Bill Prince, will speak at the March 5 meeting of the Friends of the Jeff Davis Library and Cindy and members of Glen’s family will be present to sign copies of the book.
Glen’s book is available for purchase at Googe’s in Hazlehurst and several other businesses in SE Georgia, from thebowmanco.com, and other online book sellers such as Amazon.com.
The public is invited in sharing the book signing event at the Jeff Davis County library at 7 p.m. March 5.
