Parents and guardians are invited to Jeff Davis Primary School’s Virtual Reading Parent Information Event Dec. 1, 2020.

The Hazlehurst Police Department will host the First Annual “Back the Blue” Golf Tournament to raise funds for purchasing equipment officers need that is not included in the department’s yearly budget.
The 4-man scramble will be held Dec. 4 at Douglas Golf and Country Club with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Participants will received breakfast, lunch and a goodie back and are invited to the 19th hole party. Register by Nov. 20.
Teams and sponsorships are available as follows:
There are 20 sponsorship levels, ranging from the $250 per table Station Sponsor, to the $500 Par Package to sponsor a foursome, to the $5,000 Shirt Sponsor and Raffle Sponsor.
Each sponsorship package includes a variation of such things as one golf foursome, a company’s logo on golf shirts, gift bags, golf balls, and golf hats for each participant, table for marketing purposes at designated holes, gift bags, mulligans, introducing raffle items and hand them out to winners, placards on every golf cart, staffing for the 19th Hole Party, marketing at the registration area and awards ceremony, exhibit privileges in the putting, closest to the pin, straightest drive and longest marshmallow drive contests, breakfast sponsorship, beverage and snack cart, tee box signs and much more.

The Jeff Davis County Democratic Committee will meet at Happy Land Center Dec. 10 at 6 p.m.
All Jeff Davis County residents who are legally registered to vote and believe in the principles of the Democratic Party are urged to attend.

The Hazlehurst City Council’s regularly scheduled meeting.

Jeff Davis Community Christmas will be held Dec. 20, 2-6 p.m. at Happy Land Community Center.
The event will include food box giveaways and senior care packages.
Sponsors are Community League, Impact Church of Hazlehurst, Joe Lee Hansley Foundation, Triumph Church of Hazlehurst and KRB Printing and Design.
Included in the meal kits will be whole turkey or two whole chickens, two large cans blackeyed peas, two large cans collard greens, two large cans corn, two packs stuffing, can of cranberry sauce and pack of Hawaiian dinner rolls.
All donations are welcome.

Christmas Eve candlelight service at 5 will be held at Hazlehurst First United Methodist Church, says the Rev. Allen Hartsfield, pastor.
This is usually FUMC’s highest attended service of the year as most Christians want to be at church on this most holy night of the year. But the coronavirus may make it different this year.
Jennifer Elder Hufford will be guest pianist. Pacely Davenport will be the lay reader.
Communion will be served as an option. United Methodists serve communion to all regardless to their denomination.
