  • Riverboat Run

    Riverboat Run will May 11 and event planners are expecting nearly 100 to sign up for the fourth annual event down the Ocmulgee River. If you do not have your own canoe or kayak, resources can be found at: www.ocmulgeewatertrail.com.
    It will begin at 8 a.m. at Dykes Landing in Cochran and conclude at Mile Branch Park in Hawkinsville. Paddle fee includes a tee shirt and lunch. Proceeds will support Ocmulgee River educational and outreach programs. The Ocmulgee River Water Trail Project began in 2010 as a partnership between just a handful of communities along the river and now runs the length of the river.

    The 2019 Jeff Davis High School Honor’s Night ceremony will be at 6 p.m. May 16 at the Jeff Davis High Gymnasium.
    All seniors should attend dressed in cap and gown for the senior procession and group picture.
    Herff Jones will take individual senior pictures in cap and gown beginning at 5 p.m. in the auditorium.
    Parents of students in grades 9-12 receiving awards will be contacted and encouraged to attend.

    The Georgia Blueberry Festival Blueberry Cooking Contest will be May 18 at 10 a.m. at the Bacon County Extension Office in Alma.
    Cash prizes will be given to the winners. There will be a tasting time following the contest for $1 per person.
