The Snipesville Community will host it’s annual New Year’s celebration Jan. 1 with a parade and traditional lunch menu.
The meal will consist of barbecue pork or grilled chicken, black-eyed peas, yams, rolls, and cake. Plate prices are $7. There will be take out or dining in at the center with lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m.
The parade begins at 2 p.m. Everyone is invited to participate in the parade. There is no entry fee. The parade is in need of antique cars, floats, horses, twirlers, or any other entries. There will be a cake raffle and vendors.
The beginning of school marks the starting back of many meetings that took a summer hiatus at Hazlehurst First United Methodist Church, says the Rev. Scott Brenton, pastor.
The Wednesday night suppers, Pioneer Club for children, youth meeting and adult Bible study will start up Aug. 8.

Forever Young, the senior adult group of Hazlehurst First United Methodist Church, meets the first Thursday of each month at 5:30.
In January they will travel to McRae’s Cedar Lane Supper Club.

The regular monthly meeting for the Jeff Davis County Board of Assessors will be Jan. 4 at 4:00 p.m. in the Tax Assessor’s office.
