Shiloh United Methodist Church Christmas Bazaar

    8:00 am-2:00 pm
    Dec-01-18

Culinary delights, hand-made Christmas ornaments, and much more will be for sale at Shiloh United Methodist Church’s Christmas Bazaar Dec. 1, 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event is being sponsored by the Shiloh Circle and proceeds will be used to build a prayer garden on the church grounds.

Located on Georgia Highway 19 between Lumber City and Glenwood, the historic church was founded in 1805. Tours of the current church building, dedicated in 1886, and the adjacent cemetery will be offered during the bazaar. Costumed interpreters will relate the church history, as well as details about some of the people who attended the church during the 19th and early 20th century. In the cemetery, several of the persons buried at Shiloh will be profiled by interpreters. The tours are free.

In the annex next door to the church, a variety of items will be on sale. Bazaar-goers can shop the clothing boutique which will offer shoes, handbags, jewelry, and a wide variety of clothing in a range of sizes. A dressing room with mirror will be provided, and boutique assistants will be on hand to help with choosing the right outfit. A toy shop will feature children’s clothing and toys. Home goods ranging from linens to lamps, as well as collectibles, will also be offered for sale. Hand-made Christmas ornaments will be available for purchase and the ornament artist will be on site to personalize the ornaments for shoppers.

Beneath tents outside, shoppers can peruse the Bargain Barn which will offer great deals on a variety of items. Homemade baked goods, including candies, cakes, breads, jams, jellies, salsa and locally-made sugar cane syrup will be on sale.

Plants will be available for sale and a highlight of the event will be a presentation by Merv Greenberg, bonsai expert. A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Merv moved to the Spring Hill area of Wheeler County several years ago. He teaches online bonsai classes and is also known for his landscape creations. Merv will exhibit some of his bonsai plants and answer questions about the art form. He will also hand out cards and schedule classes for those who would like to know how to bonsai.

If shoppers are hungry, they can grab a hotdog with trimmings at the lunch bar. A hotdog, chips, drink and a cookie priced at $5 and will be served from noon until 2 p.m. Visitors are invited to picnic on the church grounds. For more information, visit the Shiloh Circle Facebook page.
