Mrs. Bessie Marilyn Brantley, 90

Mrs. Bessie Marilyn Brantley, 90, passed away June 22 after a long and blessed life. She was born May 21, 1936, in Hazlehurst, the daughter of the late William Toliver Schell and Christine Osburn Schell.
Bessie worked for many years in the fabric and craft departments at TG&Y and later at Wal‑Mart, where her creativity, patience and warm spirit made her a favorite among customers and coworkers alike. She was a woman of quiet strength, steady kindness and deep devotion to her family. Those who knew her will remember her gentle presence, her love for home and family, and the way she made every gathering feel special.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Stephen Brantley and her brother Bobby Schell.
Bessie is survived by her children Garry Brantley (Shem), Alan Brantley and Tina Mathis (Carrol); grandchildren Lynn Brantley, David Brantley, Rachel Potter (JW) and Seth Mathis (Mirandie); a number of great‑grandchildren; sisters Montine Hodge, Martha Bell (Ollie) and Magdaline Wood; and a host of extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Her family celebrated her life June 29 at Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Dyar officiating. A private burial was June 30 at Bridgeford Church of God Cemetery in Hazlehurst.
Bessie’s legacy of love, faith and quiet grace will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
