Few Problems From Heavy Rain
Heavy rains and thunderstorms rolled through Jeff Davis County over the weekend with five, six and more inches of rain recorded in parts of the county.
While the county was under a National Weather Service Flash Flood Watch for much of the weekend, the damage caused by the rainfall was not catastrophic.
Jeff Davis Emergency Management Agency Director Charles Wasdin said the rain resulted in some rough dirt roads and potholes, and County Road Department employees were called into work to mitigate the hazards caused by the rain, it was not as bad as it has been in the past.
County Administrator Jayme Crosby said there was some major damage reported by the Road Department and the Broxton Highway had to be closed briefly with vehicle traffic re-routed onto detour routes. But the damage, again, was not catastrophic.
