School Board holds called meeting

The Jeff Davis County Board of Education held a called meeting last week.
The board approved the purchase of playground equipment for the new primary school from Play South Playground Creators.
The retirement of high school teacher Roger Metts was approved.
The board approved recommendations to hire Pre-K paraprofessional Carly Jones, primary school teacher Isabella Carter, primary school paraprofessional Taylor Simpson, middle school band director/teacher Shelby Carelock, middle school P.E. teacher Donald Vandygriff, high school special education Adaptive Self-Contained teacher Bobby Byron, high school ELA teacher Jessica Faulk, high school P.E./health teacher Nate Lewis, JD Choices paraprofessional Grady Hal Cox, and JDCSS family and community engagement specialist Anthony Stone.
School Superintendent Dr. Chris Roppe informed the board that the Strategic Plan for the district will be presented at the May 11 board meeting.
