EMS is fully staffed

The Jeff Davis County Emergency Medical Service has come a long way since its earlier struggles.
At last week’s County Commissioners meeting, County Administrator Jayme Crosby reported that the EMS is full staffed with 12 full-time employees and consistently has two, 24-hour 911 trucks to answer calls each day.
Three of the five EMT students successfully completed the training program and are employed full-time with the EMS. Two of the students went further and obtained their Advanced EMT certification and one has passed the test and is working for the department as an Advanced EMT.
The EMS received two Stryker stretchers purchased with SPLOST funds and have been working well.
The EMS has put on a 12-hour day truck for February to facilitate more out-of-town trips for the hospital and local discharges to cut down on patient wait times for transport.
