Mr. Olin Craig Adams, 74

Mr. Olin Craig Adams, 74, passed away Jan. 12. He was born Aug. 30, 1951, in McRae and was a lifelong resident of Wheeler County.
A dedicated servant to his community, Mr. Adams retired after 39 years of service with the Glenwood Telephone Company as CABS Coordinator and Central Office Manager. He was a member of Springhill Christian Church and a graduate of Wheeler County High School and Middle Georgia College.
Mr. Adams was the founder and chief of the Springhill Volunteer Fire Department, a position he faithfully held for more than 40 years. A dedicated volunteer fireman, he was always ready to answer the call when the tones went off, responding to emergencies calmly, steadily, and with a servant’s heart. His leadership and commitment to public safety made a lasting impact on Wheeler County.
He was also a former member of the Wheeler County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and remained very active in his community, always willing to help wherever needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents Francine Turner Adams and Olin Caswell Adams.
Survivors include his wife Joyce Vernette Hand Adams of Alamo; daughter Tasha Adams of Atlanta; stepdaughter Donna Medders (Leonard) of Hazlehurst; grandchildren Kadie Robbins (Levi) and Adam King; great-grandchildren Bentley Robbins and Payten Warnock; and siblings Renee Adams Edge (Walker), Keith Adams and Teresa Clifton (Billy).
Services will be held Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. at Springhill Christian Church, with the Rev. Ron Womack officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery.
The family requests that donations be made to Springhill Volunteer Fire Department or Springhill Christian Church in lieu of flowers.
