Mr. Jay Yawn, 65

Mr. Jay Yawn, 65, of Hazlehurst, passed away Dec. 16 at Memorial Health Hospital in Savannah.
Mr. Yawn was born June 3, 1960, in Jeff Davis County to the late Joseph Allen Yawn Sr. (JA) and Jackie Thompson Carter.
He enjoyed operating heavy equipment and had a true love for farming, finding peace and purpose in the work he did. One of his favorite pastimes was riding on his buggy with his beloved dog, Daisy, who was his constant companion. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially cheering for his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. He had a deep love for life and lived each day to the fullest, leaving behind many memories.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Sue Yawn Ward.
Survivors include his son Justin Yawn (Natalie Davenport) of Hazlehurst; daughter and son-in-law Jenny and Chris Parlor of Hazlehurst; brothers Joe Yawn (Sharon), Jack Yawn (Patsy) and Ray Yawn (Lisa) all of Hazlehurst; brother-in-law Jimmy Ward of Hazlehurst; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Dec. 18 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Brazzell officiating.
Interment followed in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Keith Rentz, Mitchel Yawn, Glenn Bohannon, Austin Bohannon, Joe Colson and Kyle Herndon.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
