Jackets must stop Royals’ Brody Fleming

When Jeff Davis High meets Bleckley County this Friday night in Cochran, the Yellow Jackets can expect to see the air filled with footballs as the Royals’ Brody Fleming has been averaging over 200 yards per game passing.
The junior signal caller has 2,224 yards passing and a school record 30 touchdowns thus far in the season. His passing yardage is the 2nd most among Class A, Division I passers. Charlie Baxter of Christian Heritage leads the class with 2,406 yards.
Fleming, a pocket-based passer, will be the most prolific passer the Jacket secondary has faced this year, as he has thrown for almost 400 more yards than Worth County’s Lyndon Worthy (1,879 yards).
Baxter has the 4th highest passing total in the state regardless of classification, with Fleming down the list at No. 15. Worthy is at No. 56.
Fleming’s top receivers are junior Octavius Tate (54.6 yds. per game, 8 TDs), senior Joshua Stanley (47.7 yds. per game) and sophomore Jason McNulty (46.7 yds. per game).
Friday’s game will pit the No. 14 (Bleckley) and No. 19 (Jeff Davis) seeded playoff teams against each other. The Royals have an 8-2 record and the Jackets are 7-3.
The winner of the Jeff Davis-Bleckley game will play Nov. 21 against the winner of the Worth County-McNair game.
