Millers coordinate Shoebox drive
David and Gail Miller of Because He Lives Ministries are serving as local coordinators of Operation Christmas Child again this year. Operation Christmas Child also known as the “shoebox project” is one of Franklin Graham’s many projects. Shoeboxes are stuffed by churches, organizations, and individuals for needy children from all over the world
The most amazing part of this project is not that a child receives a gift for the first time in his or her life. It is that each child who receives a shoebox also gets an opportunity to hear about God and how God can help them. This is taught through “The Greatest Journey” a Bible study for boys and girls.
David and Gil Miller explains, “Your shoebox brings joy to the child who receives it, but The Greatest Journey gives the child hope.” The children share the good news about God with their families and in their villages.
Since 2009, over 23 million children have made decisions for Christ through this Bible Study. The Millers encourage all churches, organizations, and individuals to participate in this great endeavor. Do not miss this once in a year opportunity to send a child a small gift that could change their life forever.
Because He Lives encourages all churches to help with this project. Free shoeboxes and materials are available at the Mission Store.
On Sunday, Nov. 23, the shoeboxes will be loaded on the trailer. All groups and individuals are invited to meet at the Mission Store at 2 p.m. to help with this. Monday, Nov. 24 is the deadline for dropping off shoeboxes.
