Toombs 2nd graders enjoy Towns Bluff Park

On Oct. 29, approximately 145 second graders from Toombs County Public Schools enjoyed a field trip to Towns Bluff Park. The children were in groups and went to a variety of stations learning historical facts about the Altamaha River and the surrounding area.
They shelled corn, toured the museum in the Heritage center, walked on the fitness trails, learned about fish from the Department of Natural Resources, enjoyed a slide show about the Altamaha River and played active “river” games.
The field trip finished with the children having lunch on the newly refurbished playground.
Presenters were Fonda Ussery – Hazlehurst, Jim Page – Dept. of Natural Resources, Brandon Lollis – Vidalia, Debbie Colson – Irwinton, Faye and Carl Bishop (campground hosts) and Nadine Lollis – Vidalia.
