XC boys, girls top sectionals

This past Saturday the Jeff Davis cross country teams hosted the GHSA 1A-Division 1 Sectional #1 (Regions 1, 3, 4, 8). Twenty-two teams from the four regions were present for the Sectional Sectional meet which serves as the advancement meet to the state meet. The top 12 teams from each sectional advance to the state meet in Carrollton on Nov. 7 & 8. East Laurens hosted the other sectional which consisted of Regions 2, 5, 6, 7.
In the Sectional results both JD squads finished first overall and will advance to the State meet in Carrollton.
After the Sectional meet was scored and teams were advanced to the State the results were then separated by each Region so Region Awards could be presented. In Region 1 the JD teams dominated. The Lady Jackets won their 10th straight Region Title, while the boys team extended their streak to six Region Titles in a row.
Seven JD runners earned All-Region status (Top 6): Boys – Will Morris (3rd), Mario Franco (4th), Erick Trejo (5th); Girls – Ellie Kate Marchant (1st), Avery Haley (3rd), Laysie Lewis (4th), Jade Franco (5th). Ellie Kate Marchant was also the girls individual Region Champion.
