Mr. James Carter, 76

Mr. James Carter, 73, passed away Sept. 25 at his residence under the care of Community Hospice.
Mr. Carter was born Aug. 23, 1952, in Jeff Davis County to the late Eugene Carter and the late Marrell Rentz Carter. He was a member of Hazlehurst First Methodist Church. Mr. Carter worked in management at Amoco Fabrics & Fibers and later served as the Jeff Davis County Administrator. He was a member of the Black Angus Association, Georgia Cattleman Association and the NCBA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Shae Morton Carter.
Survivors include his daughter Deidra (Josh) Higgins of Hazlehurst; brother David (Gayle) Carter of Hazlehurst; grandchildren Trent Tanner, Logan (Allena) Higgins, Alyssa (Kole) Williams, Laini Higgins, Landon Higgins, and Jaxton Higgins; niece Shannon (John) Smith; and nephew Scott (Erin) Carter.
Services were held Sept. 28 at Hazlehurst First Methodist Church with the Rev. Steven Riddle and the Rev. Josh Higgins officiating. Interment followed in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Trent Tanner, Logan Higgins, Landon Higgins, Kole Williams, Scott Carter and John Smith.
Music was rendered by Kenny Mobley.
