Hill to speak at ABAC

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will host “An Afternoon with ABAC Alumni Authors” Sept. 6 from 3-5 p.m.
Part of the Herbert Shippey Visiting Writers Series, the event will be held in Bowen Hall Room 100 on the Tifton Main Campus. The event is free and open to the public, no ticket required.
ABAC alumni will be showcased at the event. Each author will speak about their work. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase the authors’ works.
Visiting are Mary Spencer Veazey and Jimmy L. Hill, a native of Hazlehurst and a graduate of Jeff Davis High School.
Hill wrote They Inspired Me: My Life Journey from Gardi to Tomahawk Mountain, a memoir of southern Georgia life from the 1940s. He graduated from ABAC in 1968.
Veazey wrote Cul-de-Sac Crossroads, a look at life’s challenges. After attending ABAC, Veazey graduated from Auburn University and Belmont University.
The Herbert Shippey Visiting Writers Series honors Dr. Shippey, an ABAC professor and champion of creative arts. He was faculty advisor for Pegasus and retired in 2015.
