Three promoted to captain

Last Thursday, the Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis County Fire-Rescue Department held a badge pinning ceremony in Hazlehurst City Hall to celebrate the recent promotion of three firefighters to new positions. As Mayor John Ramay and the city council looked on, Fire-Rescue Chief Charles Wasdin promoted Cody Herndon, Dustin Hyers and David Sellers to the rank of captain.
The three were joined by family, friends and colleagues as Wasdin pinned the badges of rank on the firefighter’s uniforms. Herndon was promoted from firefighter to captain, Sellers from lieutenant to captain and Hyers from fire marshal to captain while also retaining fire marshal status.
“I have no doubt in my mind that these guys will make good chief officers,” said Wasdin of the firefighters. “They’re some of the best people that you’ll ever have. I have a great crew.”
