Oliver will run for Ward 2 seat

When last week’s 3-day qualifying period for the 2025 City of Hazlehurst election ended, no one had qualified for the Ward 2 City Council position currently held by Steve Land.
So Supervisor of Elections Christy Riner re-opened the qualifying for a 2-day period, Monday and Tuesday of this week.
Tuesday afternoon, Elizabeth Kingery Oliver qualified for the position and, when qualifying ended at 4:30 p.m., she was the only person to qualify.
Oliver will take office Jan. 1, 2026, along with long-time Ward 1 Council member Dywane Johnson, who was the only person to qualify for the Ward 1 position.
