Ms. Beverly Ann Harper, 78

Ms. Beverly Ann Harper, 78, of Hazlehurst, passed away Dec. 31 at her home.
Ms. Harper was born Feb. 27, 1946, in Macon to the late Lester and Cerise Phillips. She grew up in Graham and moved to Hazlehurst as a young adult where she lived for the last 60 years of her life. In the 80s, she was the Magistrate Judge for Jeff Davis County for two terms. She loved to meet and talk to new people, and never met a stranger. She had a sharp memory and a unique gift for conversation. She enjoyed traveling but enjoyed coming home even more. She loved and cared for all animals, especially her fur babies, Bitsy and Max.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Elzie Harper.
Survivors include her brother and brother-in-law, Terry Phillips and Steve Cooper of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; her best friends Dale Reagin and Rosa Bowen, both of Hazlehurst; and her dogs, Bitsy and Max.
A graveside service and interment were held Jan. 3 at Graham United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Robert Wigley officiating.
Active pallbearers were David Spires, Dayton Fennel, Chris Reagin, Buddy Creech, Mather Davis, Eddy Bush, and Michael Lay.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
