Mr. Malcolm Lynwood ‘Mackie’ Sweat, 78

Mr. Malcolm Lynwood “Mackie” Sweat, 78, of Hazlehurst passed away Aug. 28 at his residence under the care of Community Hospice.
Mr. Sweat was born Oct. 30, 1945, in Ware County to the late Malcolm Willis “Mack” Sweat and the late Addie Mae Carter Sweat. He was a member of Satilla Free Will Baptist Church and retired from Hazlehurst Mills in Production Control Management. Mr. Sweat was a veteran in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Moore Sweat.
Survivors include his daughter, Adriane (Rodney) Thomas of Hazlehurst; brother Wayne (Susan) Sweat of Martinez; nephew Payton (Michelle) Sweat of North Augusta, S.C.; grandchildren Skyler (Katelyn) Thomas and Shaw Thomas; great-grandchild Asher Dane Thomas; and special friend Brent Merritt.
Services were held Sept. 2 at Satilla Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Smith and Jimmie Ryles officiating and a eulogy was delivered by Adriane Thomas. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Peyton Sweat, Joshua Taylor, Steven Swain, Matt Johnston, Chad Bruce, and Eddie O’Neal.
Honorary pallbearers were his caretakers Bridgett Lawson, Barbara Meeks, Renee McRae, Sandy Hunter, Faye Thomas, and Sallie Roussell.
Music was rendered by the Rev. Jeffery Spell.
Swain Funeral Home was in charge.
