Cross Country Opens Season

The Jeff Davis cross country program opened the 2024 season by hosting the 4th Annual Peach State Preview Invitational. The event brought in over 400 runners from 16 high school and nine middle school teams from across south Georgia.
The Yellow Jacket high school squads had a great showing in the first meet of the year. The high school boys team finished 5th overall behind four larger classification teams. Junior Konnor Munsayac led the team with a 25th place finish. The Jones County team dominated the boys race placing their top five runners in the Top 10.
The Lady Jackets finished as the Peach State Preview runner-ups, with the Jones County girls also winning the girls race. Three Lady Jackets finished in the Top 10, Ellie Kate Marchant (5th), Rebeca Lopez (6th), and Ali Lewis (10th).
The JDMS teams also had great races as the boys were the MS division champions and the girls were the runner-ups.Four boys finished in the Top 10, Peyton Hamilton (5th), Luke Relihan (6th), Trevor Smith (9th), and Angel Pineda (10th). Brandy Castro (7th) and Jade Franco (10th) finished in the Top 10 for the girls.
The HS teams will be back in action this week as they travel to Macon Wednesday to compete in the Mount De Sales Academy Cavalier Classic at the Georgia Premier Cross Country Course on the campus of Middle Georgia State College.
