Mr. Derrick Lashawn Vann, 53

Mr. Derrick Lashawn Vann, 53, entered eternal rest July 29 at his home in Hazlehurst.
A graveside service was held Aug. 4 at Dillard’s Cemetery in Alamo with Minister Reginald King officiating.
Mr. Vann was born Sept. 11, 1970, to the late Aaron Vann and Phelicia Ann Howell Chatman in Lumber City.
His educational experience included the Telfair County Schools. He graduated from the Job Corps in Brunswick in 1989. He was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Lumber City.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He worked at Amercord, Hazlehurst Mills, and as a truck driver.
Preceding him in death were his son Darrien Bryson, and grandparents Author and Roxie Howell and Horace and Laura Ann Vann.
Survivors include his wife Cathy Vann of Alamo; sons Brandon (Breana) Vann of Tallahassee, Fla., and Marcus Vann of Virginia; grandchildren Brandon Jr., Briana, and Ke’yonna Vann; brothers Turner Chatman Jr. of Douglas and Levon Chatman Sr. of Lumber City; as a sister Lisa Howell Jones; uncles Emory Howell of Orange, N.J., and Finley Vann of Graham; aunt Wardean Carter of Hazlehurst; like an aunt Ava Bess of Glenwood; nephew Levon Chatman Jr. of Lumber City; dear friend Jimmy Hunt of Hazlehurst; and a host of cousins and friends.
Pallbearers were friends of the family
King Brothers Funeral Home was in charge.
