Yawn wins runoff

Challenger Dennis Yawn rolled to a 219-103 victory over incumbent County Commissioner Hank Hobbs to win a seat on the Jeff Davis County Commission.
322 votes were cast in the Blackburn District runoff after Yawn and Hobbs were the top two vote-getters in the initial voting in May. Yawn got 115 in May, Hobbs 100 and Chesley Taylor forced the run-off with 90 votes. 305 votes were cast in the Blackburn District in May compared with 322 in Tuesday’s runoff.
Of the votes cast in the runoff, 202 were cast Tuesday, 115 voted during advanced voting, and six cast absentee ballots.
