Commission defeats motion to hire Bush
The Jeff Davis County Commission held a called meeting last Tuesday to review the candidates for the job of Road Superintendent.
After meeting in closed session for just over a half hour to discuss the matter, the commissioners opened the meeting to the public and voted 3-2 not to hire former Road Department Superintend Eddie Bush. James Benjamin made the motion to hire Bush, Ricky Crosby seconded the motion, but Chairman Hank Hobbs, Vice-Chair Vann Wooten and James Emory Tate voted against the motion.
With that, Tate made a motion to bring two Road Department Superintendent Candidates in to discuss job duties and description and Wooten seconded the motion. Hobbs voted in favor, Benjamin and Crosby opposed, so the motion passed 3-2.
