Jayvees win one, lose one

Jeff Davis High’s JV baseball team defeated Wayne County 4-0 last Wednesday then dropped a 5-4 game to Coffee High Monday.
Against Wayne, Dawson Moser shut out Wayne in six innings on the mound. He gave up five hits, walked none, hit one and struck out five. Ethan Baltazar pitched the final inning, giving up no hits, walking none, and striking out none.
Baltazar’s RBI triple was the big blow for the Jackets. J.T. Bryant had a single, a double and an RBI, Noah Brantley had a single and an RBI, Brayden Lolley singled, and Zack Hulett drove in a run.
In Monday’s game, Malachi Smith, Noah Brantley and Andrew Hulett each had a single and an RBI, Brayden Picanso singled and Zack Hulett had an RBI.
Zack Hulett was the losing pitcher. He gave up three earned runs on two hits, four walks, two hit batters and three strikeouts, Andrew Hulett pitched an inning, blanking Coffee on no hits, three walks and a strikeout. Moser threw three innings, giving up one run on two hits, a pair of walks, a hit batter and four strikeouts.
