Teen’s Death Sends Shockwaves Thru Community

The death of popular high school senior Haley Elizabeth Ray, 17, sent shockwaves through the faculty and students at Jeff Davis High School this week.
Miss Ray died last Friday from injuries she received in a vehicle accident in Telfair County. The Georgia State Patrol said details of the accident were not available as the crash report had not been completed by Tuesday night.
The daughter of Newly and Kandy Ray of Hazlehurst, Miss Ray was the No. 3 student in her class academically. She was active in extracurricular activities at the high school where she was a member of FBLA, Beta Club and the yearbook staff.
Services were held Monday at Hazlehurst Church of God with burial in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
