Mrs. Lola Mae Johnson Broome, 88

Ms. Lola Mae Johnson Broom, 88, of Hazlehurst, passed away Dec. 8, 2023, at her son’s home in Macon.
Ms. Lola Mae was born Sept. 30, 1935, in Telfair County.
She is preceded in death by her parents, David Floyd Bowen and Malverine Rhymes Bowen, her husband of 50 years, Aubrey (Geechie) Johnson and husband, Elmer Stewart Broom Jr., brother, William Carroll Bowen, sisters, Elizabeth Bonner and Eloise Marchant.
She was a homemaker and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Ms. Lola Mae was a true Southern Classy Christian Lady.
She was an excellent cook, always enjoyed cooking for her family, loved to sew and was a professional interior decorator. She enjoyed life, but most of all, she loved being a wife, a mom and a granny. And she will truly be missed.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Jeff Duvall of Baxley; son and daughter-in-law, Stacey and Candice Johnson of Macon; brother, Jesse F. Bowen (Pat) of Warner Robins; sisters, Alphiene Sequeirra of Las Vegas and Angela Harris (Ray) of McRae; grandchildren, Julie Clements, Jacob Clements, Shelby Fletcher, Ryan Johnson, Brice Johnson, Jonathan Duvall, and Hunter Johnson; great-grandchildren, Samuel Morton, Zachary Alday, Emma Clements, Matthew Clements, Hannah Fletcher and Kallum Johnson; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Dec. 11 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Brown and Dr. Ben Glosson officiating. Interment followed in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery, also where a graveside memorial service with Jeff Davis Veterans was held for her late husband, Elmer Stewart Broom Jr., as they were interred at the same time.
Her grandsons, Hunter Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Brice Johnson, Jonathan Duvall, Samuel Morton, and Zachary Alday served as active pallbearers.
Grandsons Jacob Clements and Matthew Clements served as honorary pallbearers.
Music was rendered by Sallie Ursrey and Jeffery Spell.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
