JDMS wins semifinal game

Jeff Davis Middle School’s softball team won its semifinal game in the season-ending conference tournament last week. The best-of-3 championship series will be held today (Wednesday) in Hazlehurst against West Laurens Middle School. The first game starts at 2 p.m.

In the semifinals, the Lady Jackets defeated Vidalia 10-7 in Hazlehurst.

Chasity Jackson led the offense with a pair of singles and three RBI. Savanna Robinette had a single and two RBI, Gabby Taylor had a single and an RBI, Haley Hughes doubled, and Mattie Walsh and Abby Williams both singled.

Anna Grace Alligood got the win on the mound. She threw 5 2/3 innings, giving up seven runs on five hits, six walks, two hit batters and four strikeouts.

Gabby Taylor pitched 1 1/3 innings, blanking Vidalia on no hits, no walks and two strikeouts.
