Mr. Eddie Joe Floyd, 73

Mr. Eddie Joe Floyd, 63, of Hazlehurst passed away at his residence April 15.
Mr. Floyd was born in Hazlehurst to the late Mr. Devoy Floyd and Katie Mae Hall Floyd. He was a simple man and a hard worker. Mr. Floyd never missed a day of work. He served several years in the United States National Guard and left with an honorable discharge. He was employed by Hazlehurst Mills and worked there until retirement after 44 years. He was loved by many and will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, Catherine Sarah Floyd, brothers, Donald Floyd and David Floyd, and sisters, Patricia Griffin, and Aileen Killi.
Survivors are his sons, Eddie Joe Floyd Jr. of Hazlehurst, Jason Lolies (Kim) of Newland, N.C., Rush Bailiff of Hazlehurst, and Harlan Hamby of Douglas; daughter, Sarah Freytag Anderson of Chauncey; brothers, Roger Floyd (Lisa) of Milford, Va., Aubrey Floyd (Virginia) of Hazlehurst; sisters, Judy Hayes, and Lisa Floyd both of Hazlehurst; brother-in-law, Cecil Griffin of Hazlehurst; special friend Bessie Trowell; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held April 19 at Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jinker Horton will officiate.
