Jeff Davis Has A New State Representative

With the newly redrawn district lines in Georgia, for the first time in many years all of Jeff Davis County is in one State House District.
House District 157 includes all of Jeff Davis and Evans counties, about half of Appling County and almost all of Tattnall County.
In the past, Jeff Davis County was part of three different House Districts and, until this year, was represented in the State House by Dominic LaRiccia of Douglas, Robert Pruitt of Eastman and Leesa Hagans of Lyons.
With the new District 157, the county is now represented by Bill Werkheiser of Glennville.
Rep. Werkheiser has served as a State Representative since 2015 and is up for re-election this year. He is a 1982 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology. His career experience includes operating printing companies for 30 years and owning a real estate business for 15 years. He has served as president of the Glennville Chamber of Commerce, Tattnall Chamber of Commerce, Glennville Rotary Club, Glennville Merchants and Professionals Association, and Reidsville Airport Authority.
For the 2021-2022 legislative session, Rep. Werkheiser is chair of the Industry and Labor Committee, and is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee, Juvenile Justice Committee, Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee, and State Properties Committee.
Rep. Werkeiser and his wife, Kathy, are members of Glennville Baptist Church. He is a member of the Gideons, Kairos Prison Ministry and East Georgia Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
The Werkheisers live in Glennville where Kathy is a registered nurse working in labor and delivery. They have four children and four grandchildren.

I have been on the phone with DFCS automated for over 2 hrs, about my food stamps. Trying to get technical help for the gateway website and have been passed around and called back and passed around, to someone that speaks an Asian langauge, that my Georgia behind does not understand. I went to my account it said it had been deactivated, so I created a new account and can’t get into it either. I am disgusted with the whole process. I worked hard all my life but I never shirked my job, in tobacco field, waitress, or when I drove my semi because my ex-husband wouldn’t pay child support. I AM NOW 65 AMD I AM TIRED OF BEING JERKED AROUND. SINCERELY, MS MARION L TROWELL, 78 COLEY REAGIN ROAD HAZLEHURST, GA 31539.

Hello Sir, I need your help! I am a disabled 73 year old life-long citizen of Jeff Davis County. I have had a partial medicaid status for over 20 years (the state paid my medicare part b premiums). I had a telephone review in July and was denied this benefit going forward. I really believe this is a mistake because the Social Security Administration changes everyone that’s on disability to regular Social security when they get 65. I think the lady put me down as not being disabled. The truth is I have been disabled since I was 48 and am now more disabled than ever.I cannot walk at all. I have tried to get my case worker to return my calls to no avail. the GA Gateway website is totally useless! If there is anything you can do or know of someone to help me please let me know. Thanks!
