Rev. Brenton Assigned to Hazlehurst FUMC

The Rev. Scott Brenton has been appointed as pastor of Hazlehurst First United Methodist Church by Bishop R. Lawson Bryan, says Jim Peterson, chairman of the Staff Parish Relations committee.
Scott comes to Hazlehurst from Bleckley First UMC.
He was born in Germany as a part of a military family and his family is mostly living in West Texas.
He served in the Navy and also with Lockheed Aerospace in collaboration with the Navy for 16 years.
He is an honor graduate of the Candler School of Theology of Emory University in Atlanta. He won the Excellence in Academics and Rural Ministry award. While in seminary he was student pastor of four churches in north Georgia.
In the past 25 years of ministry he has served six churches.
His wife, Missy, is from College Park. He has two grown daughters, Desiree and Amanda, and one grandson, Jackson who is 17. The Scotts also have two cats.
He enjoys reading and riding motorcycles.
They will be moving to Hazlehurst this week and his first sermon will be this Sunday.
The senior adult group, Forever Young, will meet this Thursday at 5:30 at Papa’s Cabin for their monthly outing for food, fun and fellowship.
The monthly senior adult luncheon is June 19 at 11:45 with music by Brad Mason. This is an ecumenical covered dish.
